What will be the top baby names for 2006
At this point we can only guess what the top baby names for 2006 will be.
It is impossible to know for sure, because the various departments that generate these statistics
only do so at the end of the year.
But we can guess some of the names which will climb the popularity ladder and
some which may fall away. Names tend to gain popularity when someone famous
is associated with that name when the baby is born.
For instance, one of the most notable names in 2006 so far is Tom Cruise and Katie
Holmes new baby - Suri. That is one that is sure to appear more than it has in the
past.
Celebrities in general have a lot to answer for when it comes to setting trends
in baby names. Generally people will not go too overboard when choosing an
exotic name
but when a celebrity chooses an unusual name, others follow.

Some other baby names which may make an appearance in the new entries for
2006 are
- Jolie-Pitt baby "Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt" - Shiloh is a name that can
apply to either a boy or girl. It also points out the famous Battle of Shiloh
in 1862, a pivotal battle in the Civil War fought in southwestern Tennessee
near a church named Shiloh.
The child's middle name, Nouvel, most obviously translates from the French,
meaning "new." If one were to take a literal approach to analyzing the entire
name, Jolie and Pitt could appear exceedingly bold in dubbing their daughter
the "new Messiah."
- Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin named their second child Moses, born in
April. Their first child, Apple, remains one of the most renowned examples
of esoteric names given to celebrity babies.
